Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 June 2026
The short version
Northsense collects nothing. No account, no cloud, no analytics, no third-party SDKs.
Every score stays on your device.
What this policy covers
This policy describes how the Northsense iOS app (the "App"), published by
Ilia Filiaev (the "Developer"), handles your information.
Data we collect
None. The App does not have user accounts, does not require sign-in, and does not
communicate with any server controlled by the Developer or any third party.
Data the App reads on your device
-
Compass heading. While a round is active and the App is in the
foreground, the App reads magnetic heading (and, if you opt in, true heading)
from Apple's CoreLocation framework. This data is processed in memory to score
the round and is never transmitted.
-
Step count. During Memory Walk only, the App reads pedometer
data via Apple's CoreMotion framework to display steps taken. This stops the
moment the walk ends.
-
Quest history. Round outcomes (target, your guess, error, score,
timestamp) are stored on your device using SwiftData. This data never leaves your device.
Permissions the App may request
- Location When In Use — optional, only if you enable "Use true north".
- Motion & Fitness — required only for the Memory Walk mode.
Third parties
The App contains no third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, or tracking SDKs.
No data is shared with or sold to anyone.
Children's privacy
The App is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect any information from
children or any other users.
Your rights
Because we do not collect or store your data on our servers, there is nothing to access,
export, or delete. You can remove all on-device data by deleting the App from your iPhone.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes
will be announced in the App release notes.
